LORES ARNAIZ, María del Rosario. Psychology and positivism in Argentina. Anu. investig. [online]. 2006, vol.13, pp.227-233. ISSN 1851-1686.

Argentinian positivism had a main role in the naissance and development of experimental psychology at that country. Laboratories and scientific instruments were provided to researchers and a period of interesting production took place for psychology. The Ramón y Cajal use and disuse law was adopted and operationalism was rejected. Psychological concepts were defined on the basis of synaptic plasticity. Psycho-physiology and mind philosophy were also developed.

Keywords : Positivism; Experimental method; Use and disuse hypothesis; Synaptic plasticity; Evolution theory.
