Abstract

VALLEJO, Mauro. Karl Abraham and his response to the riddle of seduction (1907): An approach to his notion of traumatophilic diathesis. Anu. investig. [online]. 2012, vol.19, n.2, pp.219-229. ISSN 1851-1686.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze one of the first contributions of the German psychoanalyst Karl Abraham. In 1907 this author published a small work in which he proposed a new solution to the problem of the traumatic theory raised by Freud en 1896. His notion of traumatophilic diathesis suggested that chi ldren who had a predisposition to neurosis actually incite or provoke the sexual assaults, which had been mistakenly located as the cause of illness by the seduction theory. In this paper we analyze the emergence of this innovation, as well as the reasons why Freud came to adopt his disciple's explanation.

Keywords : Abraham; Seduction; Freud.
