Abstract

ELMASIAN, Mariana  and  MIKULIC, Isabel M.. Progress in the construction of the Psychosocial Factors Inventory associated with Heart Disease (IFPEC). Anu. investig. [online]. 2013, vol.20, n.1, pp.347-355. ISSN 1851-1686.

The study and assessment of psychosocial factors in patients with heart disease is becoming increasingly important as its prevalence grows all over the world. An extensive body of research shows that depression, anxiety, anger, work stress and social support have effects on development, course and rehabilitation of this condition (Bennett, Owen, Koutsakis, & Bisson, 2002). In Argentina tests are available for evaluating these factors separately and in not cardiac patients, but a comprehensive and population-specific tool was still lacking. Having distinctive tools to assess these patients is vital to support the required interventions for recovery. The aim of this paper is to present advances in the construction of the Inventory of Psychosocial Factors Associated with Heart Disease (IFPEC). We present the stages in the construction process and the characteristics of the instrument.

Keywords : Psychosocial factors; Heart disease; Psychological assessment; Construction.
