Abstract

BENENCIA, Roberto. El infierno del trabajo esclavo: La contracara de las 'exitosas' economías étnicas. Avá [online]. 2009, n.15, pp.00-00. ISSN 1851-1694.

From the burning of a sewing workshop and the deaths of workers and children who lived locked into the installations, an obvious social fact, that "does not want to be see", is find and allows to shed light about situations of semi slavery in working conditions in the clothing industry in Buenos Aires City. Judicial complaints made by some of the workers to the Ombudsman of Buenos Aires City led to expose labor exploitation situations that combined needs and fears of undocumented immigrants with important failures in areas where state control has proved ineffective in ensuring respect for human rights of migrants. In the other side, the subject itself allows to analyze the face and the other side of the so-called ethnic economies.

Keywords : Immigrants; Workers; Slavery work; Ethnic economies.
