Abstract

CORBELLE, Florencia. Drogas: la audiencia pública: Intervención política y trabajo de campo. Avá [online]. 2013, n.22, pp.00-00. ISSN 1851-1694.

The first public hearing to discuss the bills, which so far have been presented by congressmen from different political parties, to amend the current drug law was held on June 15th 2011. This article provides an ethnographic description of this stage of the parliamentary debate qua ritualized instance of active participation of civil society not only seeking to recall the most important arguments used by “prohibitionist” and “decriminalization-ists”; but, mainly, analyze this conflict and its possible resolution as a trial by oath in which having support to one’s own point of view as well as the ability to highlight certain contributions in order to gather support for following contests is extremely significant. The aforementioned, taking into account my role as a public speaker, which means bringing up a political intervention experience as well as giving an account of how this experience played a part in my research.
