Abstract

LATTA, Alex. Ciudadanía ambiental y las políticas de espacio y escala en Latinoamérica. Avá [online]. 2014, n.24, pp.00-00. ISSN 1851-1694.

The following text, based on a conference delivered on October 31, 2012, in the context of the Conservation Speakers Series hosted by the Graduate Studies Program in Social Anthropology at the National University of Misiones, offers a programmatic intervention in debates over environmental citizenship. It begins with a contextualization of the dominant debates in environmental citizenship, and proposes another distinct perspective to rethink the relationship between nature and political subjectivity. The second part of the conference sets out the consideration of space and scale as fundamental dimensions for understanding this relationship. Drawing findings from the work of other researchers in various parts of the Latin American region, the analysis explores three examples of how the study of space and scale can shed light on environmental politics and the emergence of new forms of citizenship in this arena
