Abstract

This paper has as a goal to analyze different types of mobilization, criticism and legal sensibilities on the configurations lived by the Atafona´s fishers - São João da Barra, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The collective actions could be undertaken in either a collective, or an individual way, and they are lined by justifications in which the actors operate different legal and symbolic devices in order to make their demands gain worth. Those being, as referred in this case, keeping their land, even in the ocean or the ground, or the maintenance of the practice that constitutes their identity, fishery. The Atafona fishers, especially those who perform the "Platform fishing", infringe the exclusion law, established by the Capitania dos Portos (Brazilian marine), which consists in the delimitation of an exclusion area in a range of 500 meters. The infraction assumes, for them [the fishers] a different meaning: making justice. In this sense, this paper tries to understand the diverse ways of acting and moral feelings, besides the vocabularies operated by the actors in their demands, this change of situation.
