Abstract

CIORDIA, Carolina. RESIGNIFICACIONES DE LA “ESPERA” EN LOS PROCESOS DE ADOPCIÓN DE NIÑOS. Avá [online]. 2020, n.36, pp.115-136.  Epub Feb 19, 2021. ISSN 1851-1694.

In this article we analyze, from an ethnographic perspective, the process of orientation of children to adoption in the metropolitan area of Buenos Aires, starting with investigating the ways in which members of children’s domestic groups and future adopters dispute and / or they negotiate constructs of meaning and decisions that emerge from the intervention of the agents of the legal-bureaucratic organization. The analysis allows us to argue that rather than a “waiting” period, it is a productive period in which the orientation of children towards adoption is being built. We conclude that it is essential to make visible the social and political conditions, institutional practices and social relationships through which children become adoptable.

Keywords : Adoption of children; Legal-bureaucratic organization; Ethnography.
