Abstract

CECCHI, Paula Inés. “UNO SE CAE Y DIEZ NOS LEVANTAMOS”. EMOCIONES Y SUBJETIVACIÓN ENTRE JÓVENES MAPUCHE EN VIEDMA. Avá [online]. 2020, n.37, pp.159-182.  Epub July 23, 2020. ISSN 1851-1694.

In 2008, a group of young people from popular backgrounds from Viedma formed the group Crece desde el pie to demand justice for the murder of Atahualpa Martínez Vinaya, and sometime later, some of them organized as part of the community Waiwen Kürruf. The pain associated with the crime mobilized processes of subjectivation that led them to self-ascribe as Mapuche while generating instances of collective healing. These processes emerged first from critically reflecting on their own experiences of subjection as youth from peripheral neighborhoods. Second, from denouncing daily discrimination situations that actualize the Mapuche people’s historical subjection. Third, from recovering family memories in which that emotion condenses collective senses about the past. With an ethnographic approach, this article reflects on the impact of emotions in the processes of subjectivation among urban indigenous youth.
