Abstract

In the last decade, the number of scientific studies of sports in Uruguay based on observational methodology has increased significantly. The key point to guarantee the highest rigor in the research processes has been the requirement of assesses the quality of the observation instrument and its measure. The concepts of validity and reliability are central in the observational instrument improvement and during the data collection. On the other hand, the adequate training of the observers who use the instrument is required to ensure a good registration process. The aim of this work is to review the main decisions taken regarding to obtain a good data quality through researches in team sports carried on in Uruguay using observational methodology in the last ten years.
