Abstract

FELIPE, Antonio. Concepciones sobre el profesionalismo de estudiantes de primer año de medicina veterinaria. Cienc. docencia tecnol. [online]. 2022, n.66, pp.1-1. ISSN 1851-1716.  http://dx.doi.org/https://doi.org/10.33255/3365/1072.

The curricularization and construction of professionalism in veterinary medicine programs are the main lines in new curricula designs worldwide. The aim of this study was to conduct an exploratory analysis about the conceptions of first-year students on professionalism, good professional characteristics, and main skills to have in order to perform in the workplace. An open-ended questionnaire was implemented on 90 students of the Veterinary Sciences Faculty, National University of the Center of the Buenos Aires Province. The conceptions specified by the students presented most of the components and attributes of professionalism acknowledged in theoretical models. Results might point to a significant cognitive base, which might allow to explicitly incorporate the work with professional skills, abilities, and values in teaching programs since the beginning of undergraduate courses.

Keywords : conceptions; curricula; students; veterinary professionalism.
