Abstract

SARAVIA DE GROSSI, María Inés. Neoptolemus: An ineffective discourse?. Circe clás. mod. [online]. 2006, n.10, pp.247-260. ISSN 1851-1724.

In the present work we reject the concept which affirms that the intervention of Neoptolemus presents an ineffective discourse and we based our appreciation on the three kinds of discursive strategies that the play presents. We propose that in his speech Neoptolemus revises, reconsiders and represents not only the lógos that Philoctetes recovers in his interaction with the other characters and the mythos presented by Heracles in the Exodus, but he also restores the power of the aînos as he plays a decisive role in the resolution of the conflict

Keywords : Sophocles; Philoctetes; Logos; Mythos; Aînos.
