Abstract
CARDONA-ARIAS, JA and FRANCO-AGUIRRE, JQ. Effect of the psoriasis on the health-related quality of life: meta-analyses 2003-2013. Rev. argent. dermatol. [online]. 2014, vol.95, n.2, pp.05-15. ISSN 1851-300X.
Background: in the literature there are many studies about health related quality of life (HRQL) in people with psoriasis, which present divergent results with low statistical power and external validity. The objective was to evaluate the impact of psoriasis on HRQOL and some factors associates, 2003-2013. Methods: meta-analysis based on the dimensions of HRQOL of the MOSSF-36 (Medical Outcome Study Short Form-36), DLQI (Dermatology Life Quality Index) and PDI (Psoriasis Disability Index) instruments. A research protocol was applied in 4 multidisciplinary databases with search terms, inclusion and exclusion criteria and quality assessment of articles, ensuring completeness and reproducibility. Quantitative synthesis assessed HRQOL profiles by sex, with tests of heterogeneity Dersimonian and Laird's and Galbraith graph; the publication bias with Egger and Begg tests and graphics Egger and Funnel Plot, were conducted analyzes of sensitivity, Forest Plot and cumulative meta-analysis. Results: 46 studies were analyzed, 92.3% of studies from Europe and North America; the population was 21,558 subjects with psoriasis, 44% were women, the average age was 50 years and the age of diagnosis of the disease was on average at 29 years old. The mean PASI was 10.4 ± 8.0. DLQI was the instrument most used with an average of 9.1 ± 5.8, followed by MOSSF-36 with an average of 46.8 ± 10.4 for the physical component and 43.8 ± 11.1 for mental component; PDI was the least used with an average of 9.2 ± 8.6. Conclusion: psoriasis has a negative impact on HRQOL, especially in the mental domain of individuals, women reported the most unfavorable scores, and this highlights the need approaches for gender in the multidisciplinary care of these patients.
