CABALLERO, Antonio José Díaz; GONZALEZ, Lai Lani Arrieta and MARTINEZ, Adel Alfonso Martínez. ORAL LICHEN PLANUS IN CHILDREN: LITERATURE REVIEW AND A CASE REPORT. Rev. argent. dermatol. [online]. 2019, vol.100, n.3, pp.31-40. Epub Sep 30, 2019. ISSN 1851-300X.
Lichen planus is a chronic, recurrent autoimmune inflammatory disease considered as an abnormal immune response mediated by T cells. It affects the oral mucosa, skin, genital mucosa, scalp and nails being a frequent pathology in adults. Children's lichen planus is a rare entity, with few reports in the literature, characterized by skin lesions and rarely oral lesions. Early diagnosis accompanied by adequate management is very important to avoid future malignancies, since this entity is considered a potentially malignant disorder. The objective of this article is to make a literature review and present a case report of oral lichen planus in a pediatric patient, with good response to treatment.
