Abstract

VILLANUEVA, DV et al. Atypical Fibroxanthoma. Rev. argent. dermatol. [online]. 2021, vol.102, n.2, pp.71-80. ISSN 1851-300X.

Atypical Fibroxanthoma (AFX) is an unusual tumor, rarely seen, it has a low risk of malignancy and a rapid progression. It is more frequently observed in men around the age of seventy. It regularly presents itself as a single nodule or red papule, with a size smaller than 2 cm, its center can appear to be ulcerated and may bleed if touched.

The AFX is likely to manifest itself in skin zones that have been photodamaged, especially on the head and neck, these being main parts of manifestation, followed by the back and extremities.

This case of FXA is exposed with abnormal clinic characteristics, which diagnosis was concluded by a histopathologic and immunohistochemical analysis. A review regarding the topic is being done.

Keywords : atypical fibroxanthoma; malignant fibrous histiocytoma; pleomorphic dermal sarcoma.
