Abstract
LOBO ZAVALIA, Ramiro; BERETTONI, Aldo; FORNS, Alicia and ALE, Jorge. Productive and phenological behavior of varieties of blueberry with high cold hours requirement in Tafí del Valle, Tucumán, Argentina. Rev. ind. agric. Tucumán [online]. 2018, vol.95, n.2, pp.33-39. ISSN 1851-3018.
In order to make the cultivation of blueberry more competitive in the province of Tucumán, we aim to expand the supply of fruit from our province to a period between December, January, February and March. Therefore, it was proposed in this work the possibility of incorporating varieties with high requirements in cold hours, in a new production area with different characteristics to the piedmont. In October 2010, a collection of fifteen varieties of blueberries with high requirements in cold hours was installed in the substation that the Estación Experimental Agroindustrial Obispo Colombres (EEAOC) has in Tafí del Valle,Tucumán (Between 500 and 1200 hours of cold), they were assigned for evaluation by the specialized nursery Mr Berry. giving rise to a wide range of genetic variability: Northern Highbush (Bluecrop, Elliot, Legacy, Brighitta, Bluejay, Chandler, Duke y Bluegold), Southern Highbush (Emerald, Jewel, y Star) y Rabbiteye (Powderblue, Alapaha, Ochlockonee y Vernon). Performance and fruit quality parameters were determined: firmness, caliber and Brix. The varieties Ochlockonee and to a lesser extent Powderblue (both Rabbiteye) were highlighted, these two varieties show the highest yield of fruit found, with high values of ºBrix and caliber, and in the case of Powderblue the variety of better firmness. With these varieties could be supplied to the market during the months of February and March, when the volumes of Chilean fruit fall sharply.e.
