Abstract

JUAREZ DE GALINDEZ, M. et al. Height-diameter equations to Ziziphus mistol Griseb. in Santiago del Estero, Argentina. Quebracho (Santiago del Estero) [online]. 2006, n.13, pp.36-43. ISSN 0328-0543.

Quebracho blanco (Aspidosperma quebracho blanco Schlecht.) and mistol (Ziziphus mistol Griseb.)are the most important woody tree species in the Western Chaco District. Besides the traditional uses these two native species, make a significant contribution to the environment by fixing carbon and protecting soils and biodiversity The height-diameter relationship is important to determine tree volume and biomass be. Total height (h) and diameter at 1,30 m (d) are two highly correlated variables that can be modeled by means of mathematical functions. On the other hand, it is worth it considering  how practical it is to predict h as a function of d. The objective of this paper was to fit 13 h-d equations for mistol trees in Santiago del Estero, Argentina. Data were obtained from 122 trees from 30 plots.  Prodan's hyperbolical function was selected as the final model.

Keywords : Height; Diameter; Height-diameter equations; Mistol.
