Abstract
BORZONE, H. A.; BARDI, J. F. and LADDAGA, J. E.. Development of Eucalyptus camaldulensis Dehnh grown as windbreak on a farm in Azul (province of Buenos Aires). Quebracho (Santiago del Estero) [online]. 2007, n.14, pp.65-73. ISSN 0328-0543.
The present state of a 546m long E. camaldulensis Dehnh windbreak is described by means of the results of a forest mensuration as a contribution to the knowledge of forest systems in a region where systematic studies are scarce. The average growth observed in different areas along the windbreak were 10.847m3/ha year; 19.316m3/ha year and 3.86 m3/ha year. These variations together with others referring to loss percentage and tree shape coincide with differences in the characteristics of the soils where the trees grow, posing the hypothesis of their relationship with rooting conditions and water availability. It is concluded that the growths measured are low, and in this region the spatial heterogeneity of soil is one of the most important factors to consider in the design of windbreaks.
