Abstract

GOMEZ, C.; BRASSIOLO, M.; KEES, S.  and  GUZMAN, A.. Various cutting methods and intensities effects on the high Humid Chaco Forest regeneration. Quebracho (Santiago del Estero) [online]. 2012, vol.20, n.2, pp.60-67. ISSN 1851-3026.

This work aimed to determine the incidence of various cutting methods and intensities over the regeneration of natural tree species in a high forest, according of their ecological temperament .The site which showed previous forest work is located in Eastern Chaco District within the sub-region including Esteros, Cañadas, and Selvas de Rivera. The study was performed within a 4 ha  where two cutting methods (namely, the mass method MM and the future tree method FTM) and two cutting intensities (20, 30%) were applied. Significant differences were found as to the methods. Natural regeneration was favored when the cutting was oriented according to the liberation of future harvest trees (FTM). In considering the ecological temperaments, themedium temperament species that require protection along their first years became favored; this was achieved through a moderate opening of the cover.

Keywords : Natural regeneration; Silvicultural treatment.
