Abstract
GONZALEZ CABRERA, F. E. and LORETO DIAS PITA, A.. Efficiency of the main machine in the sawing process. Quebracho (Santiago del Estero) [online]. 2015, vol.23, n.2, pp.92-93. ISSN 0328-0543.
The objective of this paper was to determine the yields of the sawmill “Álvaro Barba Machado” of Minas Integral Forest Company, through a time study of the sawing process, starting with the analysis of the diameter classes that feed the line of big dimensions of Pinus caribaea var. Caribaea. A methodology based on the NC 34-37 was used and the machine yields were assessed. The study focused on the work that the main sawing machine performs on each diameter class because the efficiency of the sawing process thus becomes more reliable. The results of the investigation led to the conclusion that the machine is designed to convert 18-22 cm logs more efficiently. It was also determined that the best yield was achieved on the 8th day, with a total volume of 63,23 m3 of processed logs, equivalent to 32,25 m3 of lumber. Furthermore, productive working time was higher, the sawing machine exhibited the best technical and processing performance, and fewer delays and breakdowns occurred that day.
