Abstract
FRIEDL, R. A.; BROZ, D. R. and ARCE, J. E.. Modeling and optimizing the sustainable forest management of the argentine Mesopotamia. A review and an analysis. Quebracho (Santiago del Estero) [online]. 2019, vol.27, n.2, pp.97-97. Epub Nov 01, 2019. ISSN 0328-0543.
In this paper, the forest-industrial sector of the Argentine Mesopotamian Region is characterized and the applications of operational research tools in it are analyzed. The evaluation is carried out considering recent publications while the categories considered in the applications in the supply chain to bioenergy plants and open problems proposed in forest applications of these techniques. Most of the optimizations implemented are linked to determinations of either regional -or company-level offers of strategic raw material using PL linear programming (LP) techniques. As for the modeling of optimized truck routes, the incorporation of algorithms allowing for managing delays in the forest and for discharge lines in the industries are pending. The study on the location and supply to bioenergy plants using forest-industrial fuels, appears as an interesting application to consider shortly. It is believed that applying the SIG-PL models have great potential when linked to territorial planning, urban planning and watershed management. With regard to the plans for determining future raw materials supply, considering sustainability and the proof or decision of the best indicators of social and environmental aspects are pending.
