Abstract

BRENZONI, P. et al. Catecholamines vs. metanephrines in the biochemical diagnosis of pheochromocytoma and paraganglioma. Rev. argent. endocrinol. metab. [online]. 2018, vol.55, n.4, pp.41-50. ISSN 1851-3034.

Catecholamine-secreting neuroendocrine tumors called Pheochromocytoma and Paraganglioma are rare entities, but potentially lethal if diagnosis and treatment are not established early enough.

Clinical Laboratory plays an important role in the diagnosis and follow-up of these tumors, through the biochemical evidence of a hyperproduction of catecholamines and its metabolites.

Keywords : Pheochromocytoma; Catecholamines; Metanephrines; Biochemical diagnosis.
