Abstract

BERTOLDI, Sandra; FIORITO, M. Elisa  and  ALVAREZ, Mabel. Rupture processes and local development: Challenges for the city of Viedma. Rev. Pilquen [online]. 2005, n.7. ISSN 1851-3123.

The study of the topic of local development in Argentina dates from the 90's within the context of the global-local controversy in which the endogenous nature of development was pointed out. Through research work, we became interested in getting to know the social perceptions of the actors who took part in the crisis, rupture and change processes that took place during the development of the city of Viedma in the period 1957 - 2000. In this article we present different rupture processes and identified events in local history, in which past present and project make up a single reality of development and a particular way of local development. Each of the rupture processes is analysed on the basis of a set of emergent categories constructed from the information obtained, particularly, with the Focal Group technique.

Keywords : Local development; Ruptures and changes; Ways of development; Challenges.
