This article analyzes the Supreme Court's decisions on massive layoffs of public servants ordered by the military dictatorship in contradiction with the constitutional right to stability of public servants. First, the text outlines the dictatorship's plan and it's supporting political coalition. It also describes the Supreme Court and its role during the 1976-1983 periods. Finally, the article delves into the technical arguments used by the Court in order to uphold the layoffs while keeping a fictitious sense of legality.
