Abstract

GUDINO BESSONE, Pablo. La Iglesia Católica en tiempos de dictadura y transición democrática (1976-1989): Discursos sobre familia, sexualidad y aborto. Rev. Pilquen. secc. cienc. soc. [online]. 2017, vol.20, n.1, pp.53-64. ISSN 1851-3123.

The objective of this article is to deepen the discourse of the Argentine Catholic Church in relation to family and sexuality, both in the dictatorship (1976-1983) and in the period of democratic transition (1983-1989). In the first part, the article examines the support that sectors belonging to the ecclesiastical hierarchy provided to the military government of 1976 for the ideological reciprocity that the policy of the dictatorship expressed with the defense of Western and Christian values. The second part deals with the political tensions between the ecclesiastical hierarchy and the democratic government of Raúl Alfonsín due to the supposed threats that the laciest and liberal principles of the Radical Civic Union (UCR) meant for the institution of the family and sexual morality Christian The article places special emphasis on the political discourse that in the course of both periods the Catholic Church initiated about the dissolution of marriages, contraception and abortion and the consideration of these as subversive practices contrary to the union and moral integrity of nation.

Keywords : Catholic Church; Dictatorship; Democratic transition; Family; Sexuality.
