Abstract

VALENZUELA-KLAGGES, Bárbara  and  MEZA-GUZMAN, José. Exportación de objetos de arte, colección y antigüedad: 0portunidad de negocio en Argentina y Chile. Rev. Pilquen. secc. cienc. soc. [online]. 2017, vol.20, n.1, pp.65-76. ISSN 1851-3123.

The world demand for art objects, collection and antiquity has increased progressively in recent years, however, the countries of South America would contribute only 0.4% to the world supply in 2014, Brazil being the main exporting country. In the face of the opportunity offered by this type of market to the export diversification of Argentina and Chile, to the entrepreneurship and promotion of art and culture, the purpose of this article is to analyze the market of objects of art, collection and antiquity and to determine the variables that may be influencing this export behavior in Argentina and Chile during the period 2002-2014. For this, a descriptive and empirical investigation will be developed, reviewing data and evidences and; later, an extended gravitational model will be determined which will be estimated using static and dynamic panel data. The main results indicate that the export behavior of objects of art, collection and antiquity of these countries is explained by a dynamic model, in which the greater gross national product of the importing country and better legal and regulatory facility to do business in Argentina and Chile greater Will be the export of these goods, while the higher export costs per container and geographic distance between importer and exporter will be the total amount exported. Chilean exports of these creative goods benefit, moreover, by the departure to the Pacific Ocean and association agreement with the European Union.
