Abstract

MAGNANI, Ilaria. The Antarctica in Argentine Literatura: Between edenic dream and sovereign reafirmation. Rev. Pilquen. secc. cienc. soc. [online]. 2017, vol.20, n.4, pp.28-40. ISSN 1851-3123.

By geographical location, climatic conditions, geopolitical organization, environmental situation, Antarctica is today an exemplary and unique case in the international panorama. The representations of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries of this area are contradictory and ambivalent. In particular, the European and North American are different from the Argentines by form and content. This paper aims to analyze the Argentine representations linking them to the historical and cultural matrices from which they arise, particularly examining the underlying ideological and sovereign discourse.

Keywords : Antarctica; Argentine literature; Sovereignty; National identity project.
