Abstract

VALENZUELA-KLAGGES, Iván; VALENZUELA-KLAGGES, Bárbara  and  IRARRAZAVAL L., Javier. Latin American Entrepreneurial Development and its Determinants: Evidence and Challenges. Rev. Pilquen. secc. cienc. soc. [online]. 2018, vol.21, n.3, pp.55-63. ISSN 1851-3123.

The general objective of this research is to describe the Latin American reality in relation to entrepreneurial development and the variables that determine this process. For this, we conducted a descriptive investigation of the most recent studies and evidences registered in the region. The study leads us to the conclusion that, to a greater extent, entrepreneurial success is sustained in the region by leading entrepreneurs who have university education and previous work experience. The study also shows that those that success is fostered by having strong contact networks to perceive business opportunities, to access resources, information and financing, and to receive support and professional advice, at the expense of more institutional support channels. In general, the Latin American entrepreneur does not start his project with a business plan and, normally, presents difficulties to manage the administration and finances of the company due to a lack of knowledge, causing a great deal of business failure.
