Abstract

PETITTI, Eva Mara. Educación, finanzas públicas y justicia social: la provincia de Buenos Aires durante el peronismo, 1946-1955. Ciclos hist. econ. soc. [online]. 2015, vol.26, n.45, pp.118-135. ISSN 1851-3735.

With respect to social policies during Peronism, education compared to other areas such as housing and health has been a neglected aspect of the historiography. Even though there is consensus by historians in saying that there was a significant increase in education spending, we consider that a deeper analysis of the budget for education, both in the composition of its resources and their distribution in different areas, can help understand not only where resided the interest but also the viability of the institutional and administrative reforms which involved the expansion and diversification of functions of the Directorate General of Schools and the creation of the Ministry of Education. This work aims to answer where the sources of funding of education were, how budget allocation was distributed, as well as what were the changes that occurred over the years. We focus on a provincial event, this also enables us to analyze to what extent the central state intervened in the management of educational resources of the province, given that the province should take charge of primary education and the existence of a law regulating the national subsidy.
