Abstract

ARANA, Mariano. Raúl Prebisch and the plan for Economics' studies at the University of Buenos Aires in 1948. Ciclos hist. econ. soc. [online]. 2016, vol.27, n.47, pp.1-20. ISSN 1851-3735.

This paper sinthetizes the frustrated creation of the Economics career at the University of Buenos Aires in 1948. It inquires about the Raúl Prebisch's contributions to that project, by revising the ideas of his proposal of the studies plan, syllabus, classes and documents about the state of the economics learning and the economic science between 1945 and 1948. The change of curricula developed in the Faculty of Economic Science proposed to reduce accounting, math and law knowledge, in order to deep theoretical issues with national and regional applications. The suggested profile for UBA's economists warded from professional aspects, and emphasized the scientific and political ones, with a critical vision about the main stream theories and reflexive about center-periphery relationships.

Keywords : economists, Raúl Prebisch, syllabus, Faculty of Economic Sciences.
