Abstract

DECIANCIO, Melisa. Bridges to think about international issues at the beginning of 20th century: the Journal of Argentinean Political Science and the Journal of Law, History and Literature. Ciclos hist. econ. soc. [online]. 2017, vol.28, n.48, pp.1-20. ISSN 1851-3735.

Publications and journals of the early twentieth century have emerged as political and cultural spaces for the development of specialized knowledge driven by the political and intellectual elite at the time. During the 1880s, the state building and the cultural and political context served to develop ideas and debates around Argentina ’s international insertion and its relationship with the world. Thus, the first debates addressing international politics were led by an intellectual elite which, in turn, had a strong political role at the state. This paper analyses the Journal of Law, History and Literature and the Journal of ArgentinianPolitical Science as spaces of production and dissemination of ideas and discussions on international affairs, between other topics of social and political science. The objective is to identify the main lines of thought and construction of the debate on international affairs in Argentina in the early twentieth century that served as the kickoff for the development of a field of study such as International Relations.
