Abstract
RAPOPORT, Mario. La teoría de la decadencia económica y el neoliberalismo argentino. Ciclos hist. econ. soc. [online]. 2019, vol.30, n.53, pp.73-108. ISSN 1851-3735.
There is a neoliberal economic theoretical approach in Argentina that although has the merit of trying to start from the national economic history, it also make the mistake of taking the interests of the dominant domestic sector as the basis of its ideas. Unlike the neo-liberal theorists of the great powers, who base their economic, commercial, industrial and financial expansion policies on these ideas , and provide an ideological platform to dominate the world through globalization, the neo-liberal domestic version proposes, in change, always remain dependent on those great powers. This neoliberalism is also linked to the thesis of economic decline, propelled by different media and by leading Argentine and foreign historians and economists. The country that was once, in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, one of the richest of that time, then fell into a spiral of decline. According to this ideology, this was because it sought to transform itself into an industrialized society, when middle and lower sectors acceded to previously denied political and social rights (through Yrigoyenist or Peronist populism) , or when some governments tried to hold more autonomous and worthy positions on the international stage. Actually, history shows that Argentina's decline is due to neoliberal policies applied since 1976.
