Abstract
NUNEZ, Carlos Eduardo. Fiber morphology of eucalyptus grandis wood growing in the argentinean mesopotamia: 6 - Macroscopic attributes of cross sections of trunks. Rev. cienc. tecnol. [online]. 2012, n.18, pp.17-20. ISSN 1851-7587.
As part of a study of the fibrous morphology of the Eucalyptus grandis implanted in the Argentinean Mesopotamia, the macroscopic features of wood cross sections of Eucalyptus grandis were analyzed. The annular zones that could be noticed on a typical cross section were described. The width of the sapwood was measured and its relationship with that of the core wood was determined. It was found that for all samples and all heights, the width range between 2 and 3 cm has a frequency of 82%, and that the sapwood area to total area ratio increases when the height increases.
