Abstract

CANAVESE, Mariana. Variations on Michel Foucault: accents, bridges and counterpoints in Latin America. Estud. filos. práct. hist. ideas [online]. 2018, vol.20, n.2, pp.1-24. ISSN 1851-9490.

This paper offers a map of the editorial dynamics of the circulation and of some of the channels, agents and uses involved in the reception of the proposals of the French philosopher Michel Foucault in Mexico, Brazil and Argentina. It proposes that, with respect to other receptions of the philosopher, the significant circulation of his elaborations in Latin America presents distinguishing characteristics. First, it exposes the early circulation of Foucault's proposals in the region; a differential rhythm within the most commonly referred cases. Then, it reconstructs some aspects of the initial circulation in spaces that are not necessarily academic. Finally, it analyzes the strongly political imprint of these uses and their operations in relation to Marxism: a core element related to the conformation and characteristics of the political, intellectual and academic fields in Latin America.

Keywords : Reception; Circulation of Ideas; Latin America; Foucault.
