Abstract

ARPINI, Adriana María. Women and philosophy in the emergence of the Latin American Philosophy of Liberation (1969-1979): The Journal of Latin American Philosophy. Estud. filos. práct. hist. ideas [online]. 2019, vol.21, n.1, pp.1-34. ISSN 1851-9490.

We explore the relationship of women and philosophy at the moment of the emergence of Latin American Philosophy of Liberation, between 1969 and 1979. Considering the differentiation between the expressions “the women issue” and “women participation”, we establish two moments: in the first one we analyze how liberation and the women “issue” appear in Enrique Dussel's and Augusto Salazar Bondy's writings, as we point out the differences between them. In the second moment we check the way women engage with their own voice in the debates about Latin American philosophy and liberation. We consider the articles published in the Journal of Latin American Philosophy since its first appearance in 1975 to its last publication in 1979. The interest of the second moment lies, above all, in making visible women's participation, since in studies on the emergence and development of philosophy of liberation they do not appear or are barely mentioned.
