Abstract

OLALLA, Marcos. The understanding of messianism in the exegetical production of the liberation theology: José Porfirio Miranda’s deconstruction of the Johannine exegesis. Estud. filos. práct. hist. ideas [online]. 2019, vol.21, n.1, pp.1-22. ISSN 1851-9490.

From the work “El ser y el mesías” (1973) José Porfirio Miranda -Mexican philosopher and biblist- it is analysed the author’s position on the nature of Christian messianism in New Testament theology. Apart from describing the main topics of Miranda’s exegesis about this, focus is made on his critique of the exegetical production of his time, which was determined to empty of significance the historical and eschatological nature of messianism.

Keywords : Miranda; Messianism; Eschatology; Theology; Liberation.
