Our hypothesis is that at least, two major moods, hope and terror are fundamental and make possible to the most representative intellectual of the period, to reflexively seize their socio-political context. We will try to show in which way the mentioned moods, allows an openness of the understanding horizon that makes possible to articulate the philosophical discourse to thought America as a project from a determinate intentionality. In synthesis, we look to show how a determinate historical and political horizon, projected trough the thought, it imbricates with a determinate affective frame, that gives place and grounds it.
