Abstract

SUAREZ, Ernesto Joaquín. A critical vision of argentine positivism: Conceptual extrapolations biology-sociology in José María Ramos Mejía and José Ingenieros. Estud. filos. práct. hist. ideas [online]. 2019, vol.21, n.2, pp.1-15. ISSN 1851-9490.

The purpose of this article is to perform a comparative analysis of the conceptual extrapolations between biology and sociology, carried out by two emblematic authors of argentine positivism: Jose María Ramos Mejía and José Ingenieros. This analysis aims to contribute to the understanding, both of the similarities and differences of these thinkers in particular, and of some common aspects of argentine positivism in general. In turn, in this analytical process, we distinguish between the theory of evolution proper and the social darwinism assumed by them.

Keywords : Argentine Positivism; José María Ramos Mejía; José Ingenieros; Social Darwinism.
