Abstract

MORENO, María Rita. Divergent readings of modernity: An angle of the controversy between Georg Lukács and Theodor Adorno. Estud. filos. práct. hist. ideas [online]. 2020, vol.22, n.2, pp.1-23. ISSN 1851-9490.

In the present work we focus our attention on the divergent interpretations that Georg Lukács and Theodor Adorno gave on the modern historical unfolding. To this end, we draw upon two classic works of the theoretical trajectory of both philosophers: Lukács’s History and class consciousness, and Adorno and Horkheimer’s Dialectic of Enlightenment because they show the characteristics representations of history of their theories. This becomes relevant because certainly from this different appraisements of modernity were stablished those critical disjunctions that based the invectives that for decades shaped the Adorno-Lukács controversy.

Keywords : Modernity; Dialectics; History; Lukács; Adorno.
