Abstract

CONTRERAS, Gustavo Nicolás. Sailing into Murky Waters: The General Confederation of Maritime and Allied Trade Unions and its Union Projection in the Peronist Conjuncture (1947-1950). Prohistoria [online]. 2013, vol.20, pp.89-114. ISSN 1851-9504.

In 1947, at the dawn of the first Peronist government, the General Confederation of Maritime and Allied Trade Unions (CGGMA for its acronym in Spanish) was born. Its importance, its peculiarities and its mark on the social and political process of that time encouraged the historical reconstruction of its course. We will refer to some relevant facts from a perspective mindful of certain organizational, syndical, political and ideological facets that were distinctive of the sector. In its analysis several significant events in the development of the trade will be considered and the political-union program, the ideology and practices expressed in CGGMA will be established
