Abstract

MALEšEVIC, Siniša. La guerra y la teoría sociológica.Translated byTomás Pisano. Prohistoria [online]. 2015, vol.23, pp.01-19. ISSN 1851-9504.

The aim of this work is to trace how warfare and organised violence had been analysed by sociology. It begins questioning those points of view that separate modernity from the practice of warfare, coming to show how classical sociology saw this phenomenon. The renewed interest in this issue that crosses nowadays societies, is exposed in the revision of four dominant perspectives: culturalism, sociobiology, economism and organisational materialism, whose contributions and weaknesses are analysed in a critical way.

Keywords : Warfare; Organised violence; Sociological theory; Modernity.
