Abstract

CATULLO, María Rosa  and  SEMPE, María Rosa. Anthropology and death: Memorials tragic political events in the cemetery of La Plata, Argentina. Runa [online]. 2016, vol.37, n.2, pp.41-60. ISSN 1851-9628.

The axis around which the problem of this work is the analysis of the mechanisms of maintenance and recovery of social memory to the inevitable fact of death. The cemetery is a characteristic institution of the urban environment and are typical monuments that have been erected to keep the memory and deeds of loved ones who stay in them. Symbolically it is as a place where social memory expressed, protecting the history of the community and where visits to allow maintenance of the same historical story and the tragic events that have characterized the city.
