Abstract

CIORDIA, Carolina. Public policy for the protection of children and youth: its effects from the perspective of young recipients. Runa [online]. 2020, vol.41, n.2, pp.87-104. ISSN 1851-9628.  http://dx.doi.org/10.34096/runa.v41i2.7292.

The article analyzes from an ethnographic perspective how two rights have been interpreted and implemented in the field of public policy for the protection of children and youth: that of living with the family and that of participation, in situations in which change in adults responsible for children is evaluated. Taking into account the perspectives that the young recipients of these policies construct, the hegemonic narratives built on these rights and the effects of the orientations of these policies will be analyzed. The analysis is based on field research conducted in the City of Buenos Aires and consists of in-depth interviews with young women who were adopted or started to be cared for by another domestic group.
