In this paper we introduce some events in the life and itineraries in Salta and Buenos Aires of Guido Bennati, "Commandeur" of the Parisian Order of the Great Mogul. This paper aims at discussing the relationship between collecting objects of natural history and anthropology, and popular healing practices. In this context, we will analyze the several meanings that the mummies had at the end of 19th Century, as medicinal element, anthropological object, and speaking device.
