Abstract

We propose that Ethnohistory -in the sense that the term began to be used in the mid-twentieth century- must be understood as part of the joints between Anthropology and History that materialized as result ofthe demands of a postwar world and embarked on a decolonization process. We review the differentpaths that it transited in thefollowing decades, the main discussions on definitions that have been given, and recent positions regarding its meaning and validity. Then we explore these discussions in the light ofthe particular case ofthe Andean Ethnohistory.
