Abstract
PEREZ, Martina Inés; CLUR, Alejo Adrián; ZELA, Paula Miranda De and OLIVERA, Daniel. INITIAL RESULTS OF THE ANALYSIS OF THE FIRST CONTEXTUALIZED INKA BURIALIN ANTOFAGASTA DE LA SIERRA (SOUTHERN PUNA, ARGENTINA). Relaciones [online]. 2023, vol.48, suppl.1, pp.13-14. In this work, we present the first results of the analysis of the material from the Casa Eladio Reales I site (CER I), Antofagasta de la Sierra, Puna de Catamarca. The site is constituted by funerary structures where human remains, ceramics, bone, metallic and wooden artifacts, as well as malacological material were found. Ceramic analysis reveals the presence of Inka-provincial, Polychrome Yocavil, Santa María, Caspinchango and Belén materials. A minimum number of fifteen individuals of both sexes, corresponding to different age groups was estimated. These remains show that a large part of the anatomical regions are represented, including small bones, as well as a good overall preservation. Grave goods account for a special treatment of the buried individuals, indicating that they could have occupied a high socialposition, perhaps closely linked to the Inka’s domination strategies in this region.
