In this work we address different socio-historicalprocesses that between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries shaped a peasant landscape in the El Alto-Ancasti mountains and whose materialities still prevail in the environment. Our objective is to generate information that contributes to the historicization and understanding of the different mountain cultural landscapes. To do this methodologically we incorporate diverse sources of information such as historical documents, archaeological fieldwork and ethnographic interviews.

We will focus here on two cases that allow us to address the process of transformation of the agrarian landscape in El Taco, in the grassland of the cumbral sector, and Oyola. In the mountain forest at mid-height on the western slope of the mountain range. We will characterize successive gricultural productive landscapes and we will establish a genealogy of their changes and continuities, relating the transformations with the evolution of socioeconomic conditions at a regional and local scale.
