Abstract

VAQUER, José María; PEY, Laura  and  GEROLA, Ignacio. The multitemporality of landscapes: a case of the andean area (cusí cusi, puna de jujuy, argentina). Relaciones [online]. 2023, vol.48, suppl.2, pp.3-3. ISSN 0325-2221.

In this paper we investígate the forms of temporality that we can effectively address from our discipline; its concrete relationship with the landscape; and the scope and limitations of our scientific logic in this approach. From a hermeneutic, dialogic and interdisciplinary point of view (between archaeology and anthropology) we propose an approach and methodology sensitive to the study of multitemporal landscapes. As an example, we present and discuss the results obtained during the investigation of the Cusi Cusi micro-region (Puna de Jujuy, Argentina). We conclude that, in the process of researching the local landscape, two perspectives are evident which, in the first instance, are the result of different ways of inhabiting: a scientific one (a chronological and linear vision of time) and a local one (a vision where past, present and future are contemporary).

Keywords : landscape archaeology; multitemporality; hermeneutics; Andes; Cusi Cusi.
