Abstract

GASTALDI, Marcos R.; QUIROGA VINAS, Josefina  and  QUESADA, Marcos N.. BECOME HOME. TEMPORALITIES, MEMORIES AND STORIES OF DOMESTIC SPACES IN THE SIERRA OF EL ALTO-ANCASTI (FIRST MILLENNIUM AD, NORTHWESTERN ARGENTINA). Relaciones [online]. 2023, vol.48, suppl.2, pp.15-15. ISSN 0325-2221.

This work explores the role of residential spaces in the production of social subjects who inhabited village landscapes during the first millennium AD on the eastern slope of the Sierra de El Alto-Ancasti in Catamarca Province, Argentina. A biographical perspective of material culture and the house is used, emphasizing the stratigraphic sequence. At the methodological level, the biographical trajectories of two sectors of excavated dwellings in the area, El Taco 19 (ET19) and Oyola 50 (OY50), are reconstructed, which allow us to narrate the life histories of the houses, their sequences of construction, remodelling, abandonment, and reuse of spaces. These narratives make it possible to understand the local ways in which the house was produced as a space for social life in the village landscape. In summary, this work accounts for the specific way in which houses were constructed and inhabited in El Alto-Ancasti during the period considered.

Keywords : houses; biography; temporality; stratigraphic sequence; village societies.
