Abstract

PALERMO, Zulma. Conocimiento "otro" y conocimiento del otro en América Latina. Estud. - Cent. Estud. Av., Univ. Nac. Córdoba [online]. 2009, n.21, pp.79-90. ISSN 1852-1568.

The main ideas in this article aim to stress the existence of some epistemic proposals circulating today in Latin America and associated with ethical and political considerations which mean to provide an answer to Latin America´s - and the formerly-called Third World -  long-dated subjection. Spatio-temporally, there is clear awareness of a complex laberynthic situation full of indefinitions in which the world is found in tension at the centre of a disruption: that of the fall of modernity and global proposals with their antithetical correlates, through the exacerbation of autonomisms, between the new "universalities" and the claims of individuality emerging from the particular difference/s of each geopolitical location. For discussion, some principles from one of the projects called Modernity / Colonization / Decolonization are revised; also, different reflection lines and alternative proposals for the "detachment" of Latin America or, otherwise, its "empowerment" are considered. Detachment from colonization and the construction of its own power in all orders, even epistemically; a process which implies, as sustained by Quijano, "amalgams, contradictions and coincidence and non-coincidence"

Keywords : Latin America; Modernity; Colonization; Knowledge; Decolonization.
